There's a glen in old Tr Connal,
There's a cottage in that glen
Where dwelt the fairest maiden
Who inspired the hearts of men

She was handsome, hale and hearty
Shy and graceful as a dawn
All the neighbours loved that widows
Charming daughter, Noreen Bawn

Till one day, there came a letter
With her passage paid to go
To the land of the Missouri
Where the Mississippi flow

Very soon she had things ready
And next morning at the dawn
When a broken hearted mother
Parted with her Noreen Bawn.

Many years, that mother waited
Till one morning at her door
Came a shy and thender lady
Costly were the clothes she wore

Saying, mother, don't you know me
Sure, I've only caught a cold
But two scarlet sponts upon her face
Sad her story told

There's a graveyard, in Tr Connell
Where the flowers do willy way
Kneels a broken hearted mother,
Kneeling on a lonely grave,

Poor Noreen, oh my Norren
Tis so lonely since you're gone
T'was the curse of emigration
That led you here, my Noreen Bawn.....
